Dr. LUKE HEMANN

Dr. Luke Hemann  grew up in Osage IA, a small town about 2 hours north west of Dubuque. Dr. Luke developed his strong work ethic early on by working many hours on his family farm raising cattle.

As a native Iowan, Dr. Luke has been a diehard (Dr. Luke’s own words) Iowa Hawkeye fan since birth. He grew up never missing a Hawkeye football game and never dreamed of going to college anywhere else. He graduated from University of Iowa with a degree in business management with a minor in chemistry.

Dr. Luke graduated and received his D.D.S. from the University of  Iowa College of Dentistry. While at Iowa, Dr. Luke received the National Award for Outstanding Student from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Dr. Luke is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and Dubuque District Dental Society.

Dr. Luke joined the Bierie Dental Team in 2012 after returning from his honeymoon. Dr Luke and his wife have three energetic boys who keep them very busy along with their rescue dog, Charlie.

Dr. jeffry breitbach

Dr. Jeffry Breitbach joined the Bierie Dental Team in January 2024 after four years working at the local community health center in Dubuque.  Dr. Breitbach is a Dubuque native and graduated from Wahlert High School and Loras College before completing his doctorate at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.  While in undergraduate, Dr. Breitbach majored in biochemistry and was the president of the Health Science Club and vice president of the American Chemical Society.  Dr. Breitbach is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and the Dubuque District Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Breitbach enjoys watching sports and live music, traveling, and playing golf. His favorite teams are the Green Bay Packers and, of course, the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Dr. Breitbach is the youngest of four children with three older sisters and currently has eight nieces and nephews.  He looks forward to continuing his dental career in Dubuque as he enjoys spending time with his family and would like to continue giving back to the community he grew up in.

Melissa

Melissa has been a valued member of the Bierie Dental Team as a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2002, bringing her warm smile and caring touch to every patient she meets. Originally from Central Iowa, she earned her Associate in Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene with honors from Des Moines Area Community College in 1999. Before becoming a dental hygienist, she completed an Associate in Business degree and gained valuable experience working as a business administrator in the dental field.

Outside of work, Melissa loves spending quality time with her husband and four children. She feels most at peace in nature and doing creative things while approaching life and those around her with an open mind and a kind heart.

Erica

Erica became a team member at Bierie Dental in 2009. Erica graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree in dental hygiene from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. She graduated with honors and scored in the top 5% in the nation on her dental hygiene boards. Erica enjoys getting to know her patients and educating them about their oral health. She takes great pride in her work and is very passionate about dentistry.

Erica enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She enjoys watching her boys play hockey and other sports. In her limited free time, she loves to travel, shop online, and cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Krista

Krista is a Registered Dental Hygienist who started working with the Bierie Dental team in early 2011 to cover another team member’s leave. Krista became such a valuable member of the team that in 2012 she was asked to join the Bierie Dental Team full-time.

Krista graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Hawkeye Community College and has been in the dental field since 2006. She graduated with high honors and received the Colgate Student Total Achievement Award for excellence in academics and patient care.

Krista resides in Dubuque with her husband, 2 daughters, and puppy, Tay. She enjoys watching her oldest playing sports and her youngest loves gymnastics. During her free time, Krista likes to spend time with her family and friends, golfing with her husband, going to the pool, working out, cooking, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers!

TERESA

Teresa graduated from Dental Hygiene School in 1984 from St Petersburg Junior college in St. Petersburg, Florida.  She joined the Bierie Dental team in the fall of 2021 and with her extensive dental experience quickly become a valued member of the team.

Teresa and her husband Darryl live on a farm just outside of Guttenberg where they raise Red Angus Beef. They have 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren. Teresa enjoys running, yoga and loves to cook.  

lindsey

Lindsey is a Dubuque native, recently moved back after living in Colorado for the last 10 years.  She earned her associates in Applied Science degree in dental hygiene from Kirkwood Community College in 2014.  She also has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Iowa.  She joined the team in 2025.

Known for her gentle touch and thorough care, Lindsey enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and making every visit a positive experience.

Outside of the office, she loves being with her husband Josh, daughter Emery, and pup Iggy.  She is happy to be back in Dubuque with her family and is enjoying exploring Dubuque once again.  Lindsey is committed to continuing education and staying up to date on the latest advancements in dental hygiene to provide the highest quality of care.

Kristi

Kristi is a graduate of Northeast Iowa Technical Institute’s Dental Assisting Program. She holds both a CDA and RDA dental assisting license. Kristi started her dental career working as a dental assistant at Bierie Dental and has been an integral member of the team ever since.

Kristi strives to make patients feel at ease and make their dental visits comfortable. She enjoys sharing her extensive dental knowledge with patients and is dedicated to making sure they are educated about their treatment choices.

In her free time Kristi enjoys spending time with her husband and their family — especially with her 5 little grandchildren.  She also greatly enjoys quilting. A native Wisconsinite, Kristi enjoys watching the Badgers and Packers.

Emma

Emma is a graduate of Northeast Iowa Community College’s Dental Assisting Program. She spent her last clinical rotation here at Bierie Dental and knew it was a great fit for her so, upon graduation Emma decided to become a full- time member of the Bierie Dental Team. With her warm personality and strong work ethic, and willingness to learn new things, she has become a valued member of the team.

Emma enjoys spending her free time with family, friends and her Cavachon Oakley. She also enjoys  traveling, outdoor activities and keeping up with the latest trends.

ABBIE

Abbie joined Bierie Dental in June 2022 after completing the dental assisting program at NICC.  Abbie enjoys meeting new people and helping her patients have a pleasant experience.

In her free time, Abbie enjoys painting, dog sitting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Kathy

Kathy joined Bierie Dental in February of 2022.  She has a background in both dental assisting and dental business administration and is a natural fit for the team.

Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys.   She especially loves gardening and watching her sons at their school activities.
